Dusty Wright
I landed in NYC after graduating from the University of Akron. My first gig was a TV agent at the William Morris Agency in NY and LA. After leaving the agency, I became a freelance music journalist and wrote for People, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, In Fashion, Penthouse, Juxtapoz, Self, Penthouse, Details, etc.
I then became the editor-in-chief of the rock magazine Creem gave Pearl Jam and The Black Crowes their first covers). I was hired by Prince to publish/edit his New Power Generation magazine.
I’ve written/produced/directed a ton of webFbased content. I’m the owner/cofounder of the smart pop culture website CultureCatch.com and host/producer of The Dusty Wright Show and the music series Dusty Wright’s One Takes . I’ve interviewed hundreds of celebs including David Lynch, Tilda Swinton, Ron Howard, Bob Weir, Wynton Marsalis, Ron English, Danny Glover, Kevin Bacon, David Cronenberg.
This past three years I’ve been writing and developing TV projects pilots with my LA based writing partner Susan Taylor.
I’ve also written/co-written 8 feature scripts and co-wrote the indie feature The Gentleman Bandit Ed Lauter, RIP/Ryan O’Neil), produced the award-winning PBS documentary Wildwood Days Bruce Willis, Dick Clark, et al), and worked as a segment producer for ESPN, Lifetime, etc.
As a musician I’ve released 5 solo albums and one with the folk-rock quartet GIANTfingers. My current single “Round Round” was released by David Lynch’s TM foundation’s new music website. I host a radio show for them entitled Dusty Wright’s Dusty Roads. I’ve had my music featured in movies like Ghost Town and Just Add Water. I continue to gig with my “maximum Americana” quintet Dusty Wright’s Jaguars.
