GlobeTrotter Jon Haggins TV received two Brooklyn B-Free Speech Best Entertainment/Variety Show Award in 2016 and 2018 and an MNN-TV Award in 2017. And three Harvey’s Bristol Crème Awards, plus the Italian Tourist Office, and the Beaujolais Region of France Awards.
Jon has written four books:
1. The African American Travel Guide- tips on how to get it together to travel
2. Yes I Can, says anything is possible, all you have to have is a dream,
3. Chasing Wild Ass, a narrative of my travels around the world with recipes
4. Jon Haggins The GlobeTrotter, a continued narrative of my travels with recipes
Jon has also written numerous food and travel articles for a variety of newspapers and magazines.
The Smithsonian Museum in DC invited him as guest speaker. Jon has also lectured at Manhattan and Queens Library. He was a national spokesperson for Proctor and Gamble’s Ultra Detergents. And let’s not forget his voice for FOX-TV’s public service announcement, “It’s Ten PM. Do you know where your children are?” He was also a contributor on NPR Radio with 25 million listeners across the country.
His first love was fashion; however, travel has always been his passion. Jon started as a fashion designer just fresh out of FIT in New York City. Many celebrities such as Debbie Allen, Helen Gurley Brown, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Felicia Rashad, Diahann Carroll, Diana Ross, Lynn Redgrave, and Sybil Burton rushed in and purchased his fashions.
The Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Cornell University and the Museum of the City of New York have exhibited some of his designs.
He was the darling of the fashion editors in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Jon was featured in many national publications such as Cosmopolitan Magazine where his fashion graced eight covers and eighty-five inside pages, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, NY Times, Town and Country, Women’s Wear Daily, Essence, Ebony, The Chicago Tribune, New York Magazine etc. Jon was also featured on numerous radio and television shows such as Good Day New York – FOX TV, Here & Now-ABC TV, CNN-Daybreak, Geraldo, Today Show, Live with Regis Philbin, Midday Live, Joan Hamburg WOR & ABC Radio and etc.
Jon’s designs have appeared on several Soap Operas such as, As the World Turns and One Life to Live, Love Boat as well as the Debbie Allen Special and Star Search with Ed McMahon. He also designed special projects for Clairol, Revlon, Seagram, Procter & Gamble and Chesebrough Ponds.
