Sandy Weston
Sandy Weston M.Ed. has been a fixture in Philadelphia-area fitness circles for thirty years—as an instructor, a trainer, a gym owner, and a media personality. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dance from West Chester University and her Master’s in Exercise Physiology from Temple University in Philadelphia. In 1983, she started an in-home private training company called Specialty Fit, and soon became a rising star in Philadelphia’s fitness scene, going on to become the first female trainer for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers—also working with Eric Lindros—as well choreographing and performing a half-time routine with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers dance team. Through her work with these teams, Weston gained so many amazing mentors to guide her through her journey. Comcast Spectacor chairman Ed Snider became a close friend and helped her open her first health club. Entrepreneur, sports team executive and owner, author, and TV personality Pat Croce also helped Weston find her way and has always been her friend and an eager advisor.
In 1993 Weston founded her first Weston Fitness club in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, and opened two more—one in Jenkintown, PA, and another in Philadelphia—shortly thereafter. Weston Fitness in Center City Philadelphia is still going strong with Weston at its helm.
Ms. Weston’s true gift is her intense enthusiasm and ability to communicate, to motivate, to simultaneously amuse and inform and inspire people; it was on full display from 1994 to 2003 when she served as Philadelphia’s NBC 10’s fitness expert. During that time, she hosted fitness segments with the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and the 76ers. From NBC10, she moved to the Discovery Channel, where she was the featured trainer on the Reality TV show “Health Cops”. Sandy also appeared on Dr. Phil’s “Live in Philadelphia” episode when she worked with TelAmerica Media as their guest fitness guru.
Since having her son, Cole, Weston has focused her energy on training excellent instructors and creating outstanding programs—including her Strip & Sculpt program, the RIP program for goal-setting, and H30, her own workout system—which emphasizes the importance of training your head and loving who you are to achieve results and effect lasting change. Weston and these programs have been instrumental in creating a strong brand for her Center City club, a place where members feel welcome, comfortable, and are given a high level of attention. In the last few years, her company has branched out into managing other fitness sites, both corporate and private.
Sandy is now the author of Train Your Head and Your Body Will Follow, on shelves in January 2018, an international keynote speaker, and successful blogger. She uses her system of headset training to empower women all over the world to reach their goals.
Sandy Weston now lives in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Eric, and her son, Cole.
